Our Story
BRIDGES (Building Resilient Individuals, Developing Generational Environmental Sustainability) is a youth-driven initiative advancing environmental resilience and ocean literacy. We work at the intersection of education, community engagement, and sustainable innovation to equip young people and coastal communities with the knowledge and tools to protect their environment.
BRIDGES was founded to bridge the gap between young people and the ocean. What started as conversations in classrooms has grown into a network of youth mentors, ocean advocates, green entrepreneurs, and community changemakers. We are a member of the Blue Thread Network and an implementing organization for Blue Schools in Cameroon, connected to global movements while rooted in local action.
At the heart of our work is Ocean Splash Academy, a pioneering initiative dedicated to ocean literacy for children and youth. Through interactive learning models such as art-based education, outdoor beach explorations, school programs, and teacher training, we transform how young people understand and connect with the ocean.

Education
We bring ocean literacy to classrooms and communities through interactive workshops, hands-on learning, and teacher training, ensuring young people understand the ocean not as something distant, but as part of their lives and futures.
Innovation
We support youth-led solutions that benefit the ocean, from transforming organic waste into ecological charcoal to creating sustainable businesses that build economic resilience in coastal communities.
Mentorship
We connect young people with experienced mentors in ocean science and conservation across borders, providing guidance, skills development, and exposure to blue economy careers.
Advocacy
We equip young people to become voices for ocean health and climate action, connecting local experiences to global movements and policy discussions.
